For my second-year of engineering in audiovisual and multimedia field, I joined the technology division of the TF1 Group for an internship of 18 weeks, specifically the Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering department. My project involved deploying the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop virtual workstation infrastructure at the TF1 and LCI offices. These virtual workstations are used by journalists from both channels to edit using Dalet and Premiere Pro, as well as to prepare reports and shows.
Desktop virtualization is a concept aimed at simulating one or more workstations from a server. A user can then connect to this virtual workstation from any digital device. Instead of having a physical computer for each employee, virtual workstations are used, which are stored on powerful servers called hypervisors. For virtualization to work, a dedicated infrastructure must be set up. This infrastructure is called VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). It consists of a set of components that allow virtualization to be available on-demand for the user.
Throughout this internship, I worked towards goals that were set by the company as well as personal objectives I defined. Some of these were established at the start of the internship, while others were added as the project advanced :
During this internship, I worked on deploying the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop solution in conjunction with Nutanix hypervisors. This experience allowed me to learn a great deal about setting up this type of infrastructure, as well as gaining extensive knowledge in networking and cybersecurity.
